Pulse Impulse Voltage Test

Release time:2021-02-24 Click amount: 3531

The pulse impulse voltage test is mainly to check whether the electrical clearance and solid insulation inside the product can withstand the specified transient overvoltage.

It is common to have pulse impulse during product installation and use. When the device is energized, the internal electric clearance and solid insulation materials must withstand pulse impulse voltage. Pulse impulse voltage can be foreseen when:
Device energized in lightning condition
Device switched on and off in a transient state
Operating overvoltage, surge overvoltage

Test standard: IEC/EN/UL 61800-5-1, GB 12668.501, IEC 60950, and GB/T 16927 are commonly used.

Test conditions: The test pulse voltage value is related to the rated voltage of the product. The test is 3 consecutive impulse pulses at equal intervals.
