On August 26, according to China News Service, Canada announced that starting October 1 of this year, it will impose a 100% additional tariff on all electric vehicles manufactured in China. This includes fully electric and some hybrid passenger cars, trucks, buses, and dual-purpose vehicles. The new tariff will be added on top of the existing 6.1% duty. On August 20, the European Union released a draft proposal to impose tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, with rates ranging from 17% to 36.3%.
