On June 19, according to the International Wind Power Grid, India approved the Viability Gap Financing (VGF) scheme with a total outlay of Rs 68.53 billion for the installation and commissioning of 1GW of offshore wind projects, including two projects of 500MW each off the coast of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Additionally, Rs 6 billion will be allocated for upgrading two ports to meet logistics needs for these projects. The scheme aims to establish India's first offshore wind project to boost the development of India's offshore wind energy industry.
