On September 27, according to China Steel Net, Tata Steel UK reached a £500 million grant agreement with the UK government to build an electric arc furnace and a refining furnace, as well as to add a hot rolling mill, a coil box, shears, and overhead cranes. So far, the foundational work for the project has been completed, and equipment orders are expected to be placed, with large-scale construction scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025. Additionally, the UK government plans to release a national strategy for the steel industry in the spring of 2025, focusing on how to expand production capacity and explore the potential of the UK steel sector.
