On May 2, the U.S. Department of Energy announced that it would allocate $3.16 billion from the bipartisan infrastructure bill for the development of the domestic electric vehicle battery manufacturing industry in the United States. Among them, $3.1 billion will be used to invest in the construction, transformation and expansion of infrastructure related to electric vehicle batteries, and $60 million will be used for the recycling and reuse of waste batteries. The goal is that electric vehicles will account for half of all vehicle sales in the United States by 2030.
