Due to the global supply fluctuation caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Indian government announced in a statement on May 25 that it would limit the sugar export volume in the 2021/22 milling season (October 2021 to September 2022) to 10million tons, so as to ensure sufficient inventory and control the domestic sugar price. The government also required Indian exporters to obtain a "special permit" from the government for any sugar export between June 1 and October 31. This is the second largest sugar producer and exporter in the world, which once again restricted sugar exports after six years.
